Banzai Land - from madness personified produces sanity

Haven’t logged in for a while because my PC crashed.  Or rather the hard drive died.

 I turned the PC one morning and nothing.  Just a prompt.

 Aaaaaargh!

So like an idiot, I hadn’t backed up my data.  All my data was gone….looked at some data recovery software, my friend came over and we tried to use it on the hard drive.  No read.  No life.  It was dead.

Despaired, I trawled web for data recovery solutions…..and found companies who claimed they could recover data from damaged hard disks.  After much enquiry, emails and phone calls I finally entrusted my data to 123 Data Recovery .  Their claim - no data recovered no data recovery fee.  It cost £117.50 including return shipping, I figured what the hell…all those photos and passwords….so I sent it off to the data recovery company.

3 days later the hard drive returned (still unusable) but all my data was on 14 DVD-Rs.  Wow.  Every last bit of data was recovered.  I’ve spent the last few months re-establishing a new windows install and migrating the data back from the dvds.

So hopefully posting will be more regular now my data has been recovered and we’re all systems go.
